She was predeceased by: her husband Samuel Javan Brewer, Sr.; her children, Louise Spinks, Helen Foxx, Shirley Mason, Denise Graves, Joey Brewer and Jerry Brewer; her parents, Will Matthews and Sally Brooks Matthews; and her siblings, Margaret Matthews Walden, Clara Matthews Ross, Pearl Matthews Austin, Buster Headen and Harrison Matthews.

She is survived by: her sons, Samuel Brewer (Rebecca) of Ramseur and William Brewer (Angeles) of Siler City; and her sister Lou Bumpas of Liberty. She is also survived by her twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.
