He was predeceased by: his parents, June Whitehead and Jessie Bray Whitehead (Rena Upchurch Whitehead); and his brother Rodger D. Whitehead. He is survived by: his son Lee Whitehead (Erin) of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Erica Welch of Ramseur and Bryson Whitehead of Asheboro; his great grandchildren, Madison Welch, Zack Moore and Thomas Manghese; and his stepgrandchildren, Emma Adams, Shelbie Ramey, Daniel Ramey, Melisa Ramey, Emerson Kleeberg, Sicily Kleeberg and Ellie Laing.
A memorial service was held on Monday, November 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel (147 Coleridge Rd, Ramseur, NC 27316).
