He was predeceased by: his parents, George Matney and Vernie Vandike Matney; and his siblings, Hazel Looney, Helen Bowman, Thelma Ratliff, Ann Matney, Beulah Hess, Roger, Ed, Junior and Ira Matney.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Long Matney; his children, Deborah M. Pupillo of Baltimore, MD, Danny Gerald Matney (Patricia) of Randleman and Trevor Dean Matney of Randleman; and his stepson Mark Porter of Raleigh. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
