He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest N. Harvell and Kate Callicutt Harvell; and his sister Lyndia Harvell Fields. He is survived by : his wife Helen Rabenhorst Harvell; his children, Pamela Faye and Roger Lee Harvell, Jr. of Bermuda Run; his siblings, Peggy Harvell Bunting of Gerorgetown, TX and Steve Harvell (Vickie) of Summerfield; and his grandson Sawyer Todd Mitchell.
