He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Merriwether and Ellafair Frances Merriwether (Kyzer); his wife Anna; his sisters, Wilna Pendergrass, Sammy Smith, Agnes Parker and AnnaLloyd Sessums; his daughters, Susan Merriwether and Judy Merriwether; and his great grandchild Jennifer Lee Branch.
He is survived by: his daughters, Glenda Biggerstaff (Greg Simmons) of Laurinburg, NC and Nancy Merriwether of Carthage, NC; his grandchildren, Cheryl Person (Louis) of Savannah, GA, Jody Peeler (Dalton) of Columbia, SC, Jessica Branch (Israel) of Red Springs, NC, David Biggerstaff of Florence, SC, Joshua Beachum of Concord, NH and Kaydie Gay of Charlestown, WV; his great grandchildren, Xavier, Jordan Person, Kaylee Peeler, Isaac, Isaiah (Isa), Josslyn, Rachel Branch, Natzu, Hazel Biggerstaff, Ace Beachum, Dayzie and Hollie Malone; his great great grandchildren, Louis and Casey Person; and his sibling's children, David Sessums (Sylvia), Lloyd Sessums (Catherine) and MarySue Reed (William).
