She is survived by: her children, Tammy Austin Gregory (Jerry) and Ray Austin Jr. (Penny); her grandchildren, Niki Hodges Torres (Stephen), Ashley Conger (Lewis) and Carrington Austin; her great grandchildren, Austin, Walker Conger, Thea and Mac Torres; her siblings, Rudy Starr, Peggy Starr Newsome (PeeWee) and Percy Starr (Debbie); and her close friends, Thyra Smith and Gloria Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Samaritans Purse at PO Box 3000, Boone NC, 28607.
