He is survived by: his daughters, Sarah Vernon (Clint) of Bassett, VA and Melissa Hand (Jason) of Reidsville; his grandchildren, Garrett Vernon, Gage Vernon, Toni Cravens and Chase Junior Hand; and his nephew Lynn Shields (Reda).
