He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Pruitt and Shirley Pruitt; his son David Matherly; and his siblings, Wesley Pruitt, Raymond Pruitt Jr. and Patricia Pruitt.

He is survived by: his wife Mildred Pruitt; his children, Ned Pruitt Jr. and Jessica Pruitt Buzzell; his siblings, Doug Pruitt Sr. and Barbara Ann Denny; and his nephew Wayne Denny.
