He was loved and cherished by many people including: parents: Joseph Franklin Swaney and Lela Gertrude Albertson (also referred to as Joe & Lela Swaney); wife: Linda; sister: Patsy Raynor (Ronnie); children: Deborah (Lee), Tracey (Nathan), Earl Ray, Jr (Danielle); grandchildren: Joseph McKnight (Heather), Brenton McKnight, Bryan McKnight (Kelly), Shane Sweeting II, Matthew Sweeting (Sabrina), Nathaniel Krieger II, Earl Ray Swaney III, Braelyn Swaney, Maraela Swaney; great-grandchildren: Bodie McKnight, Ellie McKnight, Eliza McKnight, Jaxon McKnight, Adaline Sweeting, Alaina Sweeting; brothers: Milo Swaney, Frank Swaney (Vila Rae); sisters: Lillian Chaney (Buck), Mary Lou Plante; caregiver: Marisol Galbreath; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (210 W Hargett St, Richlands, NC 28574). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at the Yopps Meeting House and Cemetery (2363 NC-172, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460).
