He was predeceased by: his parents, Weaver Brown Lucas and Beatrice Gilmore Lucas; his former wife Shirley M. Lucas; and his siblings, Linwood Lucas, Juanita Brown and Velma Graves.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Ricks Lucas; his sons, Steven B. Lucas (Tara) of Huntersville, NC and Scott W. Lucas (Camilla) of Belmont, NC; his grandchildren, Evan S. Lucas, Emily G. Lucas, Adam S. Lucas and Lauren E. Lucas; his stepdaughters, Lisbeth Benjelloun (Ben) of Warrenton, VA and Katherine Askew (Doug) of Roanoke Rapids; his stepgrandchildren, Kelli Long, Zakary Askew, Zoe Askew, Mimi Benjelloun, Stephen and Keith Ricks; and also Jane Ricks. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Rosemary United Methodist Church (900 Jackson St, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rosemary United Methodist Church (music ministry) in Roanoke Rapids.
