With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Frances Manning Gowen (Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina), who passed away on January 27, 2026 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Frances farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Frances is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Branham Manning and Margaret Clarke Manning; her brother William "Bill" Manning; and her son Charles "Chuck" Ewell Gowen, III. She is survived by: her daughter Margaret Manning Gowen; her son-in-law Dallas; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Forgét, Lucie "Levi" Forgét, Edward Gowen and Matthew Gowen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to All Saints' Episcopal Church.
