He was predeceased by: his former wife Norma Shearin Capps; and his parents, Kelly Capps and Mildred Perry. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Libby" Capps; his daughter Carol Capps Hahn (Rich) of Bracey Virginia; his stepsons, Raymond Wheeler Jr., Steven W. Wheeler and Christopher Wheeler; and his sisters, Ann Jones and Janie Susie Price (Jerry).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service (507 US-158, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Crestview Memorial Cemetery (489 Smith Church Rd, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870).
