He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Virginia Green and Jennis Dow Newton, Jr.; and his brother William Earl Newton (Jessie Wayne Newton). He is survived by: his wife Katie Hawkins Newton; his daughter Jennifer Newton; his sister Bessie Faye Johnson; his siblings-in-law, Brenda Newton, Nancy Hunnicutt, Jimmie Taylor, Haywood Hawkins and Gene Hawkins; his close friend Fred Draper; and his pet Zailey. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
