He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Reese and James Russell Johnston; his wife Patti; his daughter Amanda Kisielnieki; and his siblings, Mary Wynn, Ella Lassiter, Judy Johnston, John E. Johnston, Joe C. Johnston, Freddie Johnston, Willie Johnston, George Johnston, Wayne Johnston, Wade Johnston and Lee Johnston.
He is survived by: his sons, Keith Murphy (Danille), Clem Simone and Joey Simone; his grandchildren, Kylee, Khloe, Mason, Julianna, Taylor, Krys, Joey and Elsie; his nephew Thomas Hoover (Becca); and his siblings, Ann Murphy, Marie Bailey, Wesley Johnston and Eddie Johnston.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service (507 US-158, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870).
Mr. Johnston was a giving and loving person and even in death his giving and love continues as his donation of corneas will give the gift of sight to others.
