She was predeceased by: her parents, Lucy Goodman and Willie Thortis; and her spouse Acey Thomas Smith. She is survived by: her children, Tommy Smith (Susan) of Punta Gorda, FL, Billy Smith of Roanoke Rapids and Sheree Pilgreen (Doug) of Roanoke Rapids. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Weavers Chapel Church. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Weavers Chapel Methodist Church (6955 NC-48, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870).
Flowers are accepted and the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Weavers Chapel Methodist Church Memorial Fund or a charity of ones choice.
