He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Wheeler and Ruby Wheeler; his brothers, James Wheeler and Kenny Wheeler; and his half-siblings, Andrew Vick, Elton Vick and Peggy Moseley.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Wheeler, Jesse Wheeler, Melissa Wheeler and Shannon Arnold; and his sister Janet Powers (Deborah Hobbs). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
