He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Elanor McMahon and Russell James; his wife Linda James; his sisters, Sissy Harrell and Dana Hall; and his grandsons, Richard Wheeler and Brad Lynch.
He is survived by: his children, Robin Lynch (Matt) of Windsor Va, Wanda Beyette of Emporia, Russell James Jr. (Paula) of Brodnax, Dianne Powell (Robert) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Penny Clark of Gaston; and his sisters, Susie and Dottie. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service (507 US-158, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
