He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas High Clay and Hazel Cushing Clay. He is survived by: his siblings, Iris Clay Moseley (Howard) of Roanoke Rapids, Kathryn "Kate" Clay Gonzalez (Raul) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Steven Hugh Clay of Roanoke Rapids and James Daniel Clay (Mary Jane) of Roanoke Rapids; his niece Jennifer Gautier (Dan); and his nephews, Jeff Arwood and Eric Clay (Casey).
