He was predeceased by: his parents, Bethel Frank Watson and Helen Messick Watson; his wife Brenda Swaim Watson; his brothers, Foy Watson and Allen Watson; and his daughter-in-law Theresa Watson.
He is survived by: his children, Craige Watson of Statesville, Shane Watson (Holly) of Elkin and Michelle Couch (Joe) of Elkin; his siblings, Tim Watson (Bonnie), Bill Watson (Tricia), Nancy Garris, Carol Byrd, Louise Cockerham (Carly) and Peggy Cambell (Daryl); and his grandchildren, Robin Watson, Matthew Watson and Laura Couch. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church youth and children's department, a cause that was close to Donald's heart.
