He was predeceased by: his father Weldon Carpenter Jr.; his sister Debbie Waldroup; and his brother-in-law James Hall. He is survived by: his mother Wilma Orr Millsaps; his wife Josefina Gumba Carpenter; his daughter Sugar Rick of Robbinsville, NC; his grandchildren, Lexi Crisp and Lakyn Cable; his siblings, Brian Millsaps "Petey" of Robbinsville, NC and Pauline Ash of Georgia; his great-niece McKalyn Parker; and his sisters-in-law, Nelly Hall of Robbinsville, NC, Inday Cumberlander (Robert) of Robbinsville, NC and Irenia Brown (Stephen) of Norfolk, VA..
