He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Pierce III and Myrtle Clyde Miller Pierce; and his siblings, John Henry Pierce IV, Hoke Pierce, Ruth Bata, Una Crist and Vada Locklear.
He is survived by: his significant other Betty Crissman Pierce; his daughters, Andrea Fox (Buford) of Eden, Rosiland Jones (Jay) of Eden, Christina Wood (Chris) of Stoneville and Kathryn Patterson (Alex) of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Amber Fox, Zachary Fox (Colleen), Mallory Westman (Clay), Fortune Krause (Matt), Brock Fox Sierra Jones (Taylor), Jordan Wood, Micaela Patterson, Hannah Wood and Brenna Patterson; his great grandchildren, Theodore Krause, Juliet Krause and Sawyer; and his siblings, Vel Pierce (Cathy) of West Jefferson, Archie Pierce (Carolyn) of West Jefferson, Howard Pierce (Brenda) of Wilkesboro, Zane Pierce (Jane) of Abingdon, VA, Larry Pierce (Shirley) of Reidsville and Avis Graybeal (Joe) of Charlotte. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.
