He is survived by: his wife Judy Boyd; his children, James Chavis III and Emily L Kirkley (Tom Kirkley); his grandchildren, James Chavis IV, Michael Chavis, Jadon Walker, Abigail Chavis and Don Chavis; and his pet Whiskers.
