With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Gomer Davis Jr. (Rockingham, North Carolina), born in Spindale, North Carolina, who passed away on January 8, 2024 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Gomer Davis and Sara Ellerbe Davis; and his siblings, Richard T. Davis, Beth Davis Carpenter and Sara Davis Helms.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Bowles Davis; his children, Joseph Gomer Davis, III (Michelle) of Rockingham, NC and Jennifer Davis Richardson of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Drew Davis, Jed Davis, Ben Richardson and Alex Richardson. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Contributions would be encouraged to the First Baptist Church of Rockingham, NC, Richmond County Hospice or the charity of your choice.

Jack Huss wrote a sympathy message

“This is a reminiscence Joe sent me some years ago. Spindale House is the recreation center. His Dad was the druggist at Spindale Drug. RIP "Spindale Boy". "Walking from the drug store to my home on Pleasant Street I would go through the Spindale house, out the back door, down your driveway, check out Mr. Elmore's horse, go down to the end of center street, then through the woods to my back door, I could walk it blindfolded."”
