It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Shafer Jr. (Rocky Mount, North Carolina), who passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jean Cockrell Shafer. He is survived by: his children, Christopher Shafer of Rocky Mount, Kevin Hall (Lisa) of Nashville, Scott Hall (Janice) of Nashville and April Jenkins; his grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Rachel Hall, Megan Hall, Sarah Beane, Emily Hall, Abby Boykin, Molly Hall, Joshua Usery and Ashley Usery; and his great grandchildren, Alex Alvarez, Jaxon, Liam Pittman, Isla Jean Hall, Bryson, Conner Boykin, Kinley Moser and Levi Usery. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.
A memorial service was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Davis-Little Funerals (2129 Lawrence Cir, Rocky Mount, NC 27804). A reception was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
While floral tributes are welcomed, memorial donations to assist the family with expenses will also be appreciated.
