He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter E. Brown and Alma Peterson Brown; his wife Frances Marie Harris Brown; his great grandchild Caroline Bonner Purdum; and his sister Wilma Brown Parvin.
He is survived by: his daughter Deborah Brown Bonner (John) of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, John H. Bonner, Jr., Beth Bonner Purdum (Brent) and Kate Bonner Perry (Jonathan); and his sister Laura Brown Pinkham. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.
