She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Godwin and Sarah Sykes Godwin; her husband Mack Varnell; and her siblings, Edward, Everette, Isaac, Raymond, Cecil, Paul, Joseph Allen Godwin, Nancy Strum, Phyllis Daniels and Louise Joyner. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
