It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peggy Jean Edmondson Mamo (Rocky Mount, North Carolina), who passed away on April 5, 2026, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Peggy leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Spencer Staton Edmondson, Sr. and Estelle Kefauver Bowden Edmondson; and her brother Spencer Staton Edmondson, Jr. (Linda Joyner Edmondson). She is survived by: her children, Joseph Edward Mamo, III of Neptune Beach, FL, Lisa Bowden Mamo of Rocky Mount and Jean Staton Mamo of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Spencer Mamo (Megan) of Colorado Springs, CO and Cline Mamo of Alexandria, VA; her great grandchild Eloise Mamo; her niece Sally Edmondson Harris of Rocky Mount; and her caregivers, Rosemary Hooks, Yvonne Williams, Della Mangum and Joyce Dantzler.
