Richard left this world on June 22, 2025 at the age of 71, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bennett and Pat Bennett of Roanoke Rapids; and his son Michael Bennett of Rocky Mount. He is survived by: his wife Brenna; his daughter Emily of Rocky Mount, NC; his brother Michael Bennett of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his son Josh Bennett (Lauren) of Roanoke Rapids; his sister Stephanie Dannenberg (Scott) of Raleigh; his siblings' child Ellie Bennett Wampler (William) of Wilmington, NC.; his extended family, Riki Mottershead of Cary, NC, Chet Mottershead (Lynda) of Raleigh, Pearce Mottershead of Asheville, NC and Cara Mottershead of Cary, NC.; and also, Adam, Kennan, Alex and Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to Hospice of North Carolina, 75 Medical Park Lane Suite C, Murphy, NC 28906.

Rick was our Landstar agent, and I spoke to Rick on the phone several times a week. I was fortunate enough to meet him in person a few times when he came up to visit the area.
