He was predeceased by: his parents, Aurelius Lovett and Jessie Mae Lovett; his wives, Barbara J. Lovett and Emma Mae Knight; and his children, Eric Lovett and Jennifer F. Lovett.
He is survived by: his son Richard Lovett, Jr. of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Richard E. Lovett, III of Seaboard, NC, April Blackman (Cortez) of Albany, NY and Anita Medley of Rahway; his goddaughter Keen Pompey; and his great grandchildren, Ayana Lovett-Blackman, Isaiah Blackman, Jaylen, Justin, Jasaad Medley and Jasim Jackson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.
