He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Highsmith and Effie Page Highsmith; his wife Margie Bordeux Highsmith; his son Robert Allen Highsmith; and his siblings, Kathryn Hamerick, James Highsmith and Annie Carlton.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Cameron Highsmith, Jr. (Vickie), Sue Highsmith Helms (Don), William "Bill" Highsmith (Terri) and Pamela Highsmith. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren, one great great grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
