He is survived by: his wife Eloise Meeks Matthis; his children, Holli Matthis Sholar (Jason) of Wallace, Tim Matthis of Clinton and Richard Meeks of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Breanah Sholar of Wallace, Nick Sholar (Vanessa) of Rose Hill and Brendon Meeks of Rocky Point; his great grandchild Mylee Sholar; his sister Lola Mae Matthis of Clinton; his pets, Sassy and Abby; and his friend Johnnie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other family members.
