With sadness, we share the passing of James Ashby Houston (Roseboro, North Carolina). James, born on August 8, 1947, passed away on August 17, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember James for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While he will be deeply missed, the influence he had on the lives around him remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Helm (Gary) and Jamie Winter (De Ben); and his grandchildren, Layton, Brycen Jernigan, William, Caroline Winter, Cori, Cate and Jack Helm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Harnett Church, earmarked for the Cemetery Fund, at 226 Harnett Church Road, Roseboro, NC 28382, or to the Leukemia Research Foundation at https://leukemiarf.org, in support of continued research toward better treatments and, one day, a cure for leukemia.
