He was predeceased by: his brother Thomas Cale Hayes; his cousin Maggie Randall Story; his grandparents, Cecil Johnson Goodwin, Shirley Jean Goodwin, Alvin Upchurch Hayes and Jean Crews Hayes; and his uncle Robert Hayes.

He is survived by: his friend Corey White; his parents, Tonya Goodwin Hayes and Thomas Alvin Hayes; his aunt Renee Story (Randy); his niece Layla Michelle Hayes; his cousins, Brandi Story, Hayden Randall Fawcett, Brooke Shepherd (Stephen), John Hayes (April), Blake Shepherd and Kinsley Hayes; and his aunt Diane Hayes. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in Greenville, SC, in Christian's memory.
