She was predeceased by: her parents, Melvin Obie and Gladys Obie; her husband Benjamin Bland; and her siblings, Bessie Evelyn Obie and John Robert Obie.

She is survived by: her children, Cathy Green-Jones of Westwood, NJ, Lash Green (Vera) of Scotch Plains, NJ and Andre Obie (Michelle) of Roxboro, NC; and her sisters, Gladys Watkins of Roxboro, Deena Obie McGhee and Natalie Obie Smith of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
