He is survived by: his daughter Maria Francis Slack (Dennis Slack); his grandson Dennis Edward Slack; his sisters, Ursula P. Long (Daniel R. Long, Jr.) and Amy P. Cannady (Stephen Cannady); his nieces and nephews, Matthew Scott Vilaro, Brian Michael Vilaro, Daniel R. Long III (Tiffany Long), Claire Long, Anna Long (Courtney Vandermeulen), Isabel Long and Shannon Smith (Jonathan Smith); his great-nephews, Landon Smith, Jacob Smith, Connor Smith, Mason Smith and Eric Smith; and his great-niece Eleanor Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Saints Mary & Edward Catholic Church (611 N Main St, Roxboro, NC 27573). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
