She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Stanfield and Hattie Erma Fuller Stanfield; and her daughter Sarah "Mandy" Hooks. She is survived by: her husband James Pettiford of Roxboro; her children, Dexter Hughes (Olivia) of Durham, NC, Allison Majors (Walter), Jeanette Hughes, Al Lee Hughes, Jr. of Oxford, LaVerne Okale of Columbus, OH, Monzell Hughes (Sandra) of Durham, Sandra Coretta Hughes of Elon, NC and Carolyn Frederick (Jarmond); her sisters, Jean McGhee and Linda Russell; her godsons, Froncello Bumpass of Roxboro and Darry Bumpass of Cary, NC; and her daughter Dirgie Mine Road of Roxboro, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren.
