He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Lee Ranes and Willie Angliee Hoffman Ranes; and his daughter Carrie Jean Hall. He is survived by: his wife Frances Cooper Pruitt; his children, Justin Hunter Ranes (Bethany), Kyle Ranes, Crystal Williams (Quincy), Brian Patterson, Meagan Tippett (Jeff), Amber Pruitt, Corrina Leist and Tiffany Horton; his siblings, David Ranes of Timberlake and Rosemary Morris (Ronnie Carroll) of Stem; and his friends, Ernest Walker and Dave Ivey. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to F.I.T. Community Church, 3721 Burlington Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
