She was predeceased by : her parents, Thomas Roland and Edna Jarrell Towery of Chase City, Virginia.; her husband John Franklin "Frankie" Gentry; her siblings, Wayne Towery, Betty Jo Jackson and Mary Alice Pulley; and her siblings-in-law, Neal Jackson, Pat Towery, Trilvie Towery and Dianne Gentry Beaty.

She is survived by : her nephew Stephen "Bo-Bo" Dickerson; her sons, Andy Newcomb (Julie) of Greensboro, NC and Robbie Gentry (Elizabeth) of Roxboro, NC; her grandchildren, Liv Newcomb, Lorene Gentry and Grace Gentry; her brother Gerald Towery (Linda); and her sister-in-law Brenda Whitt.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church (677 Antioch Church Rd, Timberlake, NC 27583). A celebration of life was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
