She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thomas Whitt, Jr. and Carolyn Gentry Whitt of Virginia; her husband Carl Teague "Pete" Slaughter, Sr.; her daughter Anita Darlene Riley; and her siblings, Peggy Dickerson, Molly Briggs and J. T. Whitt.
She is survived by: her children, Beverly S. Carver (Brent) of Roxboro, NC and Carl T. Slaughter, Jr. (Kim) of Semora, NC; and her sisters, Johnsie Woody (Charles) and Glynda Carver (Jackie). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren.
