He was predeceased by: his parents, James Dewey Clayton and Ida Bertha Turner Clayton; and his siblings, Johnny Cecil Clayton, Everette Clayton, Bay Clayton, Dot Clayton Fuquay and Hazeleine C. Lewis.
He is survived by: his daughters, Joyce Anita Marion (Terry) of Mineral, VA and Sandra Miller (James) of Laneza, VA; his close friend Mary Fox Weaver of Roxboro; and his grandchildren, Kevin Disse, Gabrielle Miller and James "Buddha" Miller. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews.
