He is survived by : his daughters, Conswella Burton and Tonya Slade of Roxboro; his grandsons, Douglas Blackwell, IV of Raleigh, Johnnie Blackwell (Kristina) of Durham and Marquise Bryant of North Hollywood, California; and his siblings, Louise Burton of Roxboro, Shelby Burton of Roxboro, Cynthia Burton of Roxboro, Robin Burton of Roxboro, Ray Charles Burton of Roxboro, Larry Burton (Clementine) of Durham and Roy Burton of New York. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at 477 Providence Rd, Roxboro, NC 27573. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home (87 Brookland Church Rd, Roxboro, NC 27573).
