He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Clayton and Ida Turner Clayton; his former wife Thelma Frances Jackson Clayton; and his siblings, Everette Clayton, Bay Clayton, Dot C. Fuquay and Hazeline C. Lewis.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy DeJarnette Clayton; his daughter Amanda Headley (Ron) of Roxboro; his stepchildren, Chip Ragans (Rosemary) of South Boston, VA and Rechelle Estep (Robert) of Bristow, VA; his brother Leon Clayton of Roxboro; his grandchildren, Aftan Brooke Headley and Corbin Anderson Headley; and his stepgrandchildren, Brett Gentry, Deahnna Gentry, Lauren Gentry, Shawn Gentry, Arryanna Estep, Blake Ragans and Bryan Ragans.
