He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Jay and Ruth Jordan Jay; and his siblings, Velma Godwin, Sue Jay Thomas, Ida Cates, Ivory Jay, Otis Jay, James Jay, Era Jay, Marion Jay Henderson, Wallace Jay and Emma Jay.
He is survived by: his wife Cornelia Jay of Roxboro; his children, McLennard Jay (Margaret) of Rougemont and McKenzie L. Harris of Roxboro; his grandchildren, McLennard Jay, II (Amy) of Boone and Ryan Jay (Madison) of Greensboro; his sisters, Bessie Lee of Roxboro, Edith Moore of Durham, Beulah Thomas of East Orange and Dorothy Lunsford (Myrl) of Roxboro; and his brother-in-law John Kirk (Brenda). He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
