He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Porterfield and Eva Laws Porterfield; his daughter Kimly Lee Porterfield Ellis; and his siblings, Patricia P. Blalock and Eugene Porterfield (Gene).
He is survived by: his wife Clara Aldridge Porterfield; his daughters, Cynthia P. Bradner (Ted) and Shelia P. Sharpe (Jeff); and his brother Vance Porterfield. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
