She was predeceased by: her parent Earlie Pettiford; and her siblings, Charles Pettiford, Linwood Pettiford, Kelvin Pettiford, Earl Thomas Pettiford and Christine Paylor.

She is survived by: her husband Tony Burton; her children, Sharon Jackson (Darryl) of Roxboro, Brant Burton (Angela) of Roxboro, Brandon Burton of Durham, NC and Tony Burton of Greensboro, NC; and her siblings, Frances Pettiford of Roxboro, John Pettiford (Connette) of Burlington, NC, Joe Pettiford of Roxboro and Michael Pettiford of Durham. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
