It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel Carroll Newton Jr. (Roxboro, North Carolina), who passed away on August 13, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Carroll Newton, Sr. and Belle Mullen Newton. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Dowell Newton; his children, Mark Newton of Burlington and Michele Newton Hobaugh (Philip) of Pittsboro; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Newton and Libba Latham; his sisters, Susan Starr of Florida and Sandi Rice (Terry) of Tennessee; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Dowell (Barbara) of Hurdle Mills and Barbara Dowell Tuck (Roger) of Roxboro.
