He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Willie Clayton and Annie Clayton; and his grandson Justin Lee Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Compton Clayton; his children, Michael Clayton (Debbie) of Graham, Susan Slaughter (Ted) of Roxboro, Vicky Clayton of Roxboro and Jeff Clayton (Merideth) of Catonsville, MD.; his sisters, Lucille Davis of Hurdle Mills and Bell Moore of Mebane; his grandchildren, Mark Litchfield, Jr., Chris Hayes, Matthew Hayes and Denise Caron; and his great grandchildren, Jake Hayes, Katie Hayes and Willa Litchfield.
