He was predeceased by: his father Gabriel Edward Barnette; his brother Yancey; and his mother-in-law Alma Anderson. He is survived by: his mother Bessie Mae Torain Barnette of Ringgold, Virginia; his wife Beverly Barnette; his sons, Willie Mays of Salisbury and Alex Barnette of Pelham; his grandson Isaiah Watkins of Yanceyville; and his siblings, Phyllis Elliott (Felix) of Ringgold and Dwight Barnette (Robin) of Timberlake. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (1111 Oak Grove Mount Zion Rd, Roxboro, NC 27574). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
