It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lorene Tate Lawrence of Ruffin, North Carolina, born in Rockingham, North Carolina, who passed away on August 10, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Robert Tate and Nellie Myrtle Jarrell; her siblings, Debra Boulding, Elaine Smith, Robert Tate, Dewey Tate, John "Monk" Tate and Cecil Tate; and her stepsister Betty T. Ellington.
She is survived by: her husband Dewey Lawrence; her children, Vanessa Brown, Duane Lawrence (Karen), Tammie Stophel (Chuck) and Ricky Lawrence; her granddaughter Melissa Tillman (Greg); her children, Tara Ferrell (Makiyo), Kyle Lawrence, Justin Brown (Kelly), Amber Kernodle (Chad) and Bridget Smith (Brandon); her great grandchildren, Dylan, Easton, Hadley, Abby, Henry, Elizabeth, Aleece, Benjamin and Hailey; her siblings, Bessie Tate Sparks and George Tate (Cindy); and her stepsiblings, Wayne Tate (Betty) and Glenda Tate Gunn (Starling). She is also survived by extended family and friends.
