He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Hampton and Sue Conner Hampton; his wife Helen Hampton; his grandson Billy Ruff; and his sister Jeanette Hampton Taylor.
He is survived by: his daughter Rhonda Ruff (Bud) of Rutherfordton; his granddaughter Harley Woodall (Brad) of Rutherfordton; and his sisters, Ruby Clements of Sandy Mush and Alice Waters of Chesnee.
